ANR National award for K Balachander

Prestigious Akkineni National Award is to be presented to Director K Balachander for this year. Akkineni Award, instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation, is presented annually to an able person selected by the jury, for their contribution to the Telugu Film Industry.

Akkineni Nageshwara Rao announced award today at a press meet held at Annapoorna Studios.

The award carries Rs.4 lakhs in cash, Memento and Citation. The award function will be held on January 11, 2011 at Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad. The function will be graced by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Past recipients of the award include Lata Mangeshkar, Deva Anand and Vyjayanthi Mala.
