Director Anurag Basu has confirmed that Ileana will play the second female role in his forthcoming light-hearted film titled Barfee, where Ranbir Kapoor will put on some weight and plays a character that is seen in the films of Charlie Chaplin and Mr Been.
Initially, Anurag has considered casting Asin or Deepika Padukone but the date problems and cost factors have forced to him to look for alternatives and he finalised Ileana. She came to Anurag’s attention after she was signed by Shankar for the Tamil-Telugu remake of 3 Idiots.
Priyanka Chopra plays the main lead in Barfee.
