Manchu Vishnu, Tapsee starrer Vasthadu Naa Raju is out in theatres today. After a series of duds like Krishnarjuna, Saleem, Vishnu is back with Vasthadu Naa Raju under the direction of Hemanth Madhukar, who earlier made a Bollywood film A Flat. Vasthadu Naa Raju is romantic comedy entertainer and Vishnu has pinned high hopes on the film. Did Vishnu click this time around? Does he impress the audiences? Here’s the review for you…
Story
Narasimha (Prakash Raj) is a goon, who aims to become a MLA by being close to Home minister Aadhikesavalu (Sayaji Shinde). Ajay (Ajay), son of Aadhikeshavalu desperately wants to marry Pooja (Tapsee), sister of Narasimha. Both the families agree for the alliance and Aadhikeshavalu says he offers MLA seat in the coming elections. Meanwhile, Narasimha gets into wrong impression that Pooja is in love with Venky (Manchu Vishnu), an aspiring kick-boxer but surprisingly, both of them doesn’t know each other. Narasimha, on worrying about losing his MLA seat attacks Venky and his whole family. On seeking revenge, Venky kidnaps Pooja and hides her at Rajesh (Brahmanandam) house. Rajesh is the love interest of Aadhikesavalu’s wife and also the P.A to him. During this kidnap episode, Venky and Pooja falls in love with each other. How Narasimha reacts to their love? Will Venky fulfill his dream of Kick-boxing? What happens to Aadikeshavulu and his son Ajay forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Though Manchu Vishnu tries to give a decent performance, he still lacks portraying emotions in dialogue delivery. Compared to his earlier flicks, Vishnu managed in his dance steps and fights. Vishnu still needs an improvement in acting.
Tapsee sizzled with her looks all through the film. She scores fair marks performance wise too. Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam though came up with routine roles, have done their parts convincingly. Sayaji Shinde is okay, Ajay is impressive. Other casts Tanikella Bharani, Pragathi, Satya Krishna, Tulasi were adequate.
Technical Aspects
Though the movie starts off on an interesting note, director Hemanth Madhukar slowly lost the grip on the film. The movie is good in parts with few strong points. However, being a debut directorial in Tollywood, Hemanth made a decent work. The storyline and script was good but screenplay could have been much better. Gowtham Raju’s editing is patchy. Gopal Reddy’s cinematography is limited to songs. Mani Sharma’s music and Background score has helped out to some extent. Production values are average.
Analysis
Vasthadu Naa Raju is a regular and routine commercial and formulaic film with a kick-boxing hero, glamorous heroine, a strong villain in the form of heroine’s brother and an entertaining comedian. The movie runs on a predictable line and so, the film lacks excitement. While Tapsee’s good looks, comedy bits in the first and picturisation of songs are the plus points, Regular and routine drama, wrong placement of the songs are minus for Vasthadu Naa Raju.
Verdict
Though Vasthadu Naa Raju doesn’t give a great break for Vishnu, it is far better than his disastrous Saleem.
