Tollywood heroes are striving for the mass image and are hoping to gain huge fan bases with the mass entertainers. The young heroes are eyeing on hardcore mass entertainers that result as money spinners due to the power they have in entertaining the target audiences. The target audiences are the masses, and this segment (B & C centers) movie-going audience should carry the film towards the success.
Ram Charan, who thought of experimenting different roles picked up an urbane love entertainer Orange after the two massive hits Chirutha and Magadheera. However the disaster of Orange came as a big shock and also as a wake up call. Ram Charan is now in no experimental mode and is planning to play safe with commercial mass entertainers of Sampath Nandi’s Racha and V.VVinayak’s other directorial. The Mega Power Star is also said to have rejected critical-acclaimed director Krish’s script to gain back his mass image.
After tasting the success and gaining lover boy’s image with couple of classy entertainers Ye Maya Chesave and 100% Love, Naga Chaitanya feels this is the right time to emerge as a mass hero. His roles in his next films Dhada, Bejawada Rowdilu and Autonagar Surya are completely mass oriented ones. Naga Chaitanya’s directors are in strategies in presenting him as a mass hero. Dhada directed by Ajay Bhuyan with Kajal Agarwal as his leading lady is his first mass entertainer while his Bejawada Rowdilu and Autonagar Surya in the direction of Vivek and Deva Katta respectively are related to same genre and might also evoke controversies.
Prabhas has bagged success and lover boy image with urbane love story Darling and love cum family entertainer Mr.Perfect. Infact Mr.Perfect proved to be his biggest hit in his career till date. But the Young Rebel Star is in plans to retain back his mass entertainer hero image. Prabhas has set his eyes on Lawrence’s Rebel and his next film in the direction of Rajamouli, which are touted to be out and out mass entertainers.
Jr.NTR, who is on signing spree these days, is back to his genre films with Oosaravelli in Surender Reddy’s direction and Dammu in Boyapati Sreenu’s direction. NTR has tried out distinct genres with Brindavanam and Adhurs and also earned fan base from youth and family audiences. It’s been a while he has done the mass masala entertainers where Oosaravelli and Dammu are related to such genres. However, NTR seems to be focusing on all the genres equally, provided it has good script
Pawan Kalyan has failed to taste the success with the romantic comedy entertainer Teenmaar. Made with a high budget, the Love Aaj Kal remake ended up as a loss venture to the producer. Critics claimed that the film has nothing to offer for the masses and was strictly restricted to A centers. To answer these, Power Star has accepted an out and out mass entertainer, which is the remake of Salman Khan’s Dabangg. Titled as Gabbar Singh, director Harish Shankar says that Gabbar Singh would be a treat to Pawan Kalyan’s fans.
Stylish Star Allu Arjun has also come up with an action packed epic drama Badrinath that is packed with loads of mass elements. Though Allu Arjun has tried out varied roles in Vedam and Arya 2, the movies failed to succeed commercially despite his good action skills. So, the actor has now tried to play safe with Badrinath and infact, Badrinath was the biggest openers of 2011 and is making steady collections regardless of the negative buzz on the release day.
While the aforementioned heroes are switching between the class and mass entertainers, here comes the Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja, who is the hero of masses as far as his market is concerned. He does completely mass entertainers and entertains his target audience with his mass histrionics and style. Apart from these stars, the Super Star Mahesh Babu, Yuvaratna Bala Krishna, Aggressive Star Gopichand also enjoys the huge mass following.
However, the star heroes need to think, not all the mass entertainers end up as hits. It is noteworthy that the film-makers are targeting sections of B & C centers in the form of mass entertainers, but the makers need to come out with the genuine subjects and content despite adding unwanted sick comedy and sensational fights to enthrall their fans with unnecessary heroic elements.
