100 % Love Movie Story
Balu (Naga Chaithanya) is an intelligent Engineering student and always aims to be the college topper. Maha Lakshmi (Tamanna) is Balu’s sister-in-law joins in the same college to pursue her studies well. Maha Lakshmi astonishes everyone in the college by getting top rank in the college and from than Balu and Maha Lakshmi become good competitors in studies. Here comes a character Ajith who also gives both of them a tuff competition in studies.

In order to divert Ajith from getting college 1st, Maha Lakshmi proposes him and diverts him from studies. In this turn Balu gets top rank in the college. As both of them are closely related, Balu and Maha lakshmi's elders decide to do their marriage. But in one situation Maha Lakshmi praises Ajith and this irks Balu and asks her and her father to get out from his house. Will Balu change his mind and asks them to come back? Are Balu and Maha Lakshmi really in love? Is Maha Lakshmi initially in love with Ajith? Will they get married separately? How Balu gets close with Maha Lakshmi later forms the crux of 100% love.

Performances:

Naga Chaithanya as Balu showed gigantic improvement in his acting skills. He expressed right expressions in each and every frame. Chaithanya’s body language and expressions elevated the character. With this film he is going to get his father’s name romantic hero but still needs some polish on dancing skills.Tamanna is undoubtedly the life of the project, she looked simply elegant and beautiful. She in-fact went into the skin of the character Maha Lakshmi and her performance in the film is admiring to a large extent. Tamanna is the show stellar in the film and she has lot of scope for performance, she did more than justice to her character.

Naresh gave an acceptable performance. Dhamavarapu Subramanyam keeps engaged all through the film. The rest of the cast suited their designed characters well enough.

Especially, the kids in the film gave an impact full and outstanding performance in the film.

Technical Analysis:

Music by Devi Sri Prasad is very good and it is the only asset that can be discussed about the film. All the songs are well picturised and they will hang on in your memory even after to come out from the screens. Cinematography by Prasad is okay as they are not great locales to be praised. Art direction is very good. Dialogues are first rated and they sound fresh to the ears. There are a few entertaining dialogues which will impress you a lot. Editing is okay. Production values by Bunny Vasu are of top class standard as each and every frame of the film looks rich. 100% love carries a routine story with only few different rudiments and the execution is little unique. The missing factors in the film will reduce the impact completely.

The positive signs of the film are Tamanna, direction, Kid’s comedy sequence, Music, First rated dialogues, back ground score, production values and cinematography. On the flip side, the film is dragged in the second half, the graph of the film is fluctuating and slides down with the proceedings and the negative shades of Naga Chaithanya in the second half.

Analysis:

The first half of the film is entertaining, enjoyable and surprising and keeps you glued to your seats with hilarious comedy sequences and fresh dialogues but the narration in the second half is slow paced, slacked and is some what predictable with a sentimental climax. Director Sukumar undoubtedly done a great job but if he would have worked much better in the second half, 100% love would have appealed in a bigger way. The film is not that good or that bad but will face a bit difficulty to satisfy all sections of audiences. You can watch the film for the Tamannah’s performance, dialogues, music and comedy scenes. 100% Love will appeal more of youth audiences while the family audiences will have mixed reactions. Overall, the film could be an above average grosser.

Starring: Rana,Ileana,Abhimanyu Singh

Director: Puri Jaganath

Producer: Nallamalupu Bujji

Banner: Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions

Music: Vishwa and Rahman

Handsome hunk Rana and Sexy Siren Ileana starrer Nenu Naa Rakshasi have hit the screens world-wide today. NNR team has promoted the movie as a unique film with an underlying message to society. Rana and Ileana has pinned high hopes on Nenu Naa Rakshasi as the former has to establish himself in Tollywood with this second film while Ileana has no notable hits in the recent times and she needs a hit badly.

Will Nenu Naa Rakshasi proves Rana as a good actor? Does Ileana put an end to her disasters with NNR? Will Puri Jagannadh score a hit with Nenu Naa Rakshasi? Here is the movie review… Take a look

Story:

Abhimanyu (Rana) is a sharp shooter and turns as a professional killer, who has a dark past. Meenakshi (Ileana) works in a coffee shop but shoots videos of people who commits suicides and uploads them on Youtube. Abhimanyu sees Meenakshi and falls for her in the first sight and then on follows her. What were the duo pasts? Why does Meenakshi shoot and uploads the videos in youtube forms the crux of the story.

Performances:

Rana looked stylish in the role of professional killer and is convincing in the role. Yet, he needs to improve his acting and dance skills and work on his expressions. His performance is good in the fights.

Ileana as usual looked stunning in the movie. After a long time, Ileana has got something to perform and she has done a fine job.

Subba Raju has played a full-length role in the film as a Police officer and he has done a decent job. Abhimanyu Singh is good in the negative role. Ali & Mumaith Khan’s track is irritating and painful to watch. The kid who played Subbaraju’s daughter was good. Nagineedu and Surya are brief.

Technical Aspects:

Music by Viswa and Rehman is mediocre with just four songs. A couple of songs Malli Malli Merupula & Padithinammo are good on-screen. Background score by Anoop Rubens is good and uplifts the mood of the story. Editing by S.S.Rajasekhar is standard. Cinematography by Amol Rathore is alright and nothing much special. Dialogs written by Puri are worth a mention but the major drawback of the film is with its script and the screenplay though it has an appealing storyline.

Analysis:

Nenu Naa Rakshasi is developed from a new point that Suicide is not the permanent solution to the temporary problems in life. The basic idea of Puri Jagannath is good with a new thought but the movie failed totally in its execution by diluting the subject with the side tracks The first half of the movie is good with the twists and twirls but the slow narration and the horrible climax in the second half made the movie a painful watch. Puri failed in conveying the message to the audience at the end.

Final Verdict:

Give it a try…

Mr.Perfect movie Review

After his urbane classy romantic entertainer Darling, which has also hit the screens in April last year, Prabhas has yet again chosen the same genre and romanced his Darling actress Kajal Agarwal in Mr.Perfect too along with the Punjabi Kudi Tapsee. Will the Young Rebel Star yet again scores a hit with classy entertainer Mr.Perfect? Will Prabhas and Kajal Agarwal prove as a hit pair? Will Dasarath bounces back with Mr.Perfect? Well, here is the Mr.Perfect Movie Review for you. Read on…

Story:

Vicky (Prabhas) works in Australia as a game developer and likes to live his life as he desires and never compromises or adjusts for anyone. On the other hand, Priya (Kajal Agarwal) is a traditional girl and quite contradictory to Vicky’s nature. Vicky comes to India to attend his sister’s wedding. Meanwhile Vicky and Priya family heads, Nazar and Murali Mohan fixes a match for them and asks the duo to take their time and tell their opinion. While Priya likes his attitude slowly and falls for him, Vicky rejects her saying they are not made for each other and heads back to Australia for his job. Tapsee, daughter of Prakash Raj offers a project to Vicky and their friends in their company. Sooner, Vicky and Tapsee fall in love with each other who has similar attitudes. But Prakash Raj wouldn’t be happy with them and makes a deal with Prabhas to get the approval from four relatives who attend his first daughter’s wedding. Here comes a twist where Priya also attends the same wedding. What happens from there is the rest of the story.

Performances:

Prabhas is apt for the role and yet again he proved himself as Mr.Perfect when it comes to the looks or performance. He looked dashing in his unique and distinct look and has delivered pretty good performance.

Kajal Agarwal has got a performance-oriented role and she has done a fabulous job. She looked traditional at the same time glamorous and her screen presence is extremely good. Her on-screen chemistry with Prabhas is amazing and one of the highlights of the film.

Tapsee played a bold role in the film. She is charming and delivered a good performance. She has dubbed on her own for the film.

Other artists like Prakash Raj, Viswanath, Murali Mohan, Sayaji Shinde, Raghu Babu, Sameer were okay in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects:

Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good and three songs make good watch also the back ground score is good in parts. Cinematography is outstanding. The camera work and visuals are an eye feast to the audience. Songs were shot lavishly in the exotic locales of Australia. Director Dasaradh failed to establish the scenes in the second half in a convincing manner that has become curse to the film. Screenplay is highly predictable, which is a major disadvantage. Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are good on the whole. Editing by Marthand. K.Venkatesh could have been much better especially the second-half has some lengthy unnecessary scenes. Production values by Sri Venkateswara Cine Creations are standard.

Plus Points:

Lead pair casting & their look

Prabhas & Kajal’s On-Screen chemistry

Cinematography

Well-shot songs

Minus Points

Screenplay

Slow narration

Comedy not upto the mark

Analysis:

Mr.Perfect is a routine, regular family entertainer and lacks uniqueness. The first half of the film is enjoyable with some entertaining and fun-filled moments while the second half goes on a highly predictable note, packed with family drama and sentimental factor with heavy dialogues. The slow narration and outgripping screenplay takes away your interest in the second half.

Final Verdict:

Appeals to Family Audiences.

Starring: Pawan Kalyan,Trisha,Kriti Kharbanda

Director: Jayanth C Paranji

Producer: Ganesh Babu

Banner: Parameshwara Arts

Music: Mani Sharma

Power Star Pawan Kalyanis back to big-screens this week with a romantic comedy entertainer Teen Maar. Pawan Kalyan has played dual roles for the first time and has romanced Trisha and Kriti Kharbanda. The remake specialist Jayanth.C.Paranji has directed this Bollywood hit Love Aaj Kal remake. Teenmaar is all about Love and relationships. Way2Movies brings you Teen Maar movie review… Read on…

Story

Story opens in Varanasi with the introduction of Arjun Palwai & Michael Velayudham. Michael works as chef in an Italian restaurant in Bangkok and aims to turn as a stock broker at New York stock exchange. In the meantime Michael falls in love with Meera (Trisha) and in no time they were seen in relationship. After a year, Michael who doesn’t believe in long relationships breaks up with Meera and celebrates the break-up party.

Senapathi, the restaurant owner narrates Michael, the life story of Arjun Palwai that took place 30 years back in Varanasi. Arjun Palwai is a student leader and he falls in love with Kritikharbandha. Arjun is serious about his love and wants to make it long lasting with marriage. He speaks to Kriti’s father regarding this for which the later disagrees. On the other hand, Michael and Meera who breaks up can’t get over each other though they find hard in finding their new one’s Johna and Sudhir (Sonu Sood). Arjun’s love story influences Michael and he slowly changes his nature towards love and long standing relationship. He now tries to get back his love Meera. How does Michael and Arjun Palwai succeed in their love is to be watched on big screens?

Performances

In a word, Teenmaar is Pawan Kalyan’s show all the way. Pawan Kalyan has excelled in both the roles as Arjun Palwai and Michael Velayudham. Arjun Palwai’s role remains hot favorite to every one though Michael’s characterization is big. Pawan Kalyan looked quite handsome in the Michael’s role in his cool costumes. Power Star has this time rocked in romance and dances too, especially in Aale Bale and Oho Basti Dorasani songs.

Trisha’s characterization is good and the actress has carried out the emotional scenes quite well. But she could have taken much care in her make-up, where she looked elder to Pawan Kalyan in a couple or more scenes.

Kriti Kharbhannda looked extremely good but the actress doesn’t have much role for performance. Nevertheless, she scored well in what she was offered.

Technical Aspects

Cinematography by Vincent is on top-notch. The movie looked colorful right from the first scene with every frame standing. The exotic locales in songs and scenes are well picturised.

Mani Sharma’s Music has received positive buzz prior release and three of the songs are good to be watched on-screens. While Basti Dorasani and Aale Bale are to be watched for dances, Vayyarala makes a good number to be watched.

Editing could be much better as there are many dragged portions both in the first half and second half and they could have been trimmed off easily.Dialogues by Trivikram are good in parts especially in the pre-interval portions and pre-climax portions. Trivikram played a big role in bringing out the positive buzz for Teenmaar. Being a remake specialist, Jayanth has handled the subject well in the direction part. Parameswara Arts banner’s production values are rich and lavish.

Analysis

Being the remake of Love Aaj Kal, the film-makers didn’t make any major changes to the Telugu version and played it safe. Teen Maar is almost the carbon copy of LAK. So people, who have already watched LAK, may not find anything exciting about Teen Maar. However, Pawan Kalyan is the show stealer of the film. Pawan Kalyan’s fresh looks and his performance along with Trivikram’s dialogues are the big time plus points of Teen Maar along with its climax, cinematography and the production values. On the flip side, slow paced narration with some dragging portions is a minus point. All in all, Teen Maar is a decent remake and makes a good watch.

Final Verdict Entertainement guaranteed!!! Go for it and you won’t get disappointed…

Film: Manchivadu

CHANTI REVIEW 1.5/5

Starring: Tanish,Bhama,Rajiv,K.Vishwanath, Chandra Mohan, Raghu Babu, Venu Madhav, Kovai Sarala, Sudha and Others

Director: Lakshmi Narayana P

Producer: N.V. Prasad,Paras Jain

Banner: Mega Super Good Films

Music: Sirpi

Tanish, who has debuted with Ravi Babu’s Nachavule is looking out for a break as a solo hero. This time, he has teamed up with Lakshmi Narayana P (Deepti), who scored a hit with Andala Ramudu. Manchivadu has hit the screens today with hardly any buzz though it is made by Mega Supergood Movies banner. Here is the review for you…

Story:

Raja (Taneesh) is an uneducated guy and is the grandson of retired IAS officer (K. Vishwanadh). Raja’s grandfather hates him as he does nothing to succeed in life and wilds away his time. In the mean time, his cousin, who is also grand daughter of Viswanadh comes to the village from US. She is good-looking and well educated. While Raja falls for her in the first sight, his other cousin Ramesh enters the scene. Inorder to grab Indu’s attention Raja cooks up a fake story that he has been dumped by a lady. When Indu trusts him and sympathizes him believing the story, the same lady comes into his life for real. What does Raja do to prove his love? Who is that lady who enters as Raja’s lover? What was the story behind it forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Tanish plays the role of a village guy in the film and he has improved his performance compared to his previous outings. The young hero should focus on his scripts rather than choosing outdated films.

The new lady Bhama is just okay but the actress neither has good looks nor has acting skills to find a place in Tollywood.

Raghu Babu keeps you entertained for a while with his comic-timing. Kalatapasvi K Vishwanath is regular as heroine’s grandfather. Chandra Mohan and Madhavi Latha are acceptable.

Technical Aspects

Director Deepti has come up with an outdated and weak storyline. The screenplay is yet another drawback which moves on highly predictable note. Editing is not upto the mark and there are many boring scenes which could be trimmed off in the film. The songs in the film remind you of 70’s films and so is the back-ground score, which is old-fashioned. The dialogues are not appealing and bring you a feel if you are watching out a serial on big-screens. Neither of the aspects can keep you glued to the screens.

Analysis:

Manchivadu is an outdated film and is definitely not for the modern generation. It is definitely hard for the people to find at least one reason to watch out this film. The first half of the movie moves at a slow pace while the interval twist is mediocre, but the second half is yet again quite dramatic and boring.

Final Verdict:

Not worth watching it!!!

Film: Lokame Kothaga

CHANTI REVIEW 1.75/5

Starring: Sivaji, Adithi Agarwal, Suman and Others

Director: Bharath Parepalli

Producer: Neelam Sankar

Banner: Neha Media Pvt Ltd

Music: Lalith Suresh

Sivaji, Aditi Agarwal starrer Lokame Kothaga has reached the big screens, this Friday. Both Sivaji and Aditi are desperate to score a hit from long while. Lokame Kothaga has released with quite low expectations and let’s see if it can make positive buzz through the review. Take a look on Movie review.

Story:

Aditi is a Hyderabadi and a joins a new college. Sooner, she becomes the friend of Jyoti, who hails from Amalapuram. Though, they were from different backgrounds, the duo turn out to be close pals with their seniors Sheetal and Prema. Prema manages to have strong relationship with her boy friend though she has a strict father. Jyothi, on the other hand, moves on with her love facing some twists and twirls, while Sheetal also has another story with her. Aditi, who falls in love with the music director Rahul (Sivaji) will get affected with her pal’s stories. How will she face the problems and finally solves it is the rest of the story.

Performances:

Once after the first half gets over the audience will surely pose a question to self whether there is a hero in the film. Though Sivaji is the hero, he was only seen in parts during the first half. His role only starts in the second-half and that too, Sivaji has given his mediocre performance.

Aditi Aggarwal made a come back after long time though her character is performance oriented one, she is unable to prove her mettle and failed to give her best.

Suman as a lecturer gave a decent performance and handled his role well. The rest of the characters were not appropriate for the roles designed by the script writer. Finally all the mess up in characters made the film pathetic.

Technical Aspects:

Director Bharath has taken the distinct concept of young teenage girls and how are they facing the problems. While the storyline is good, the execution part is very weak. The screenplay is awful, the editing is pathetic and cinematography is low-rated. Lokame Kothaga shows the director’s incapability in handling the script. And the music is much painful than the story. Though there are many songs, not even a single track grabs your attention.

Analysis

Though Lokame Kothaga has a good storyline, the director greatly failed in its execution and narration. The entire first half resists to the introduction and establishing of characters while the pace of the film only picks in the second half. Except the storyline, everything else remains minus for the film.

Final Verdict:

Watch it at your own risk!!!

Film: Shakti

Starring: NTR,Ileana,Jackie Shroff,Sonu Sood

Director: Meher Ramesh

Producer: Ashwini Dutt

Banner: Vyjayanthi Movies

Music: Mani Sharma

The biggest budgeted film till date in Tollywood’s history Shakti starring A1 Star NTR.Jr and Sexy Siren Ileana has hit the screens worldwide on 1st April. Made with a budget of 45 crores on Vyjayanthi Movies banner, Meher Ramesh wielded the megaphone for the film. NTR has delivered two back to back hits in the form of Adhurs and Brindavanam in 2010 and Shakti is his first film in the year 2011. Will Jr.NTR gives a hattrick with Shakti? Is Shakti worth its hype? Watch out Shakti Movie review on Way2Movies

Story

Story unravels in the backdrop of Egypt with a person bringing Sonu Sood’s head and handing it to Sonu’s wife Puja Bedi. In order to demolish India and take Shakti Peetham’s in control which is Sonu’s aim, Puja Bedi trains her elder son as a cruel man. Aishwarya (Ileana), who is the daughter of Central home minister (Prabhu) escapes to Jaipur for a trip with her friends. Prabhu safeguards the Black diamond which was given by Nazar, later he leaves to foreign in search of a gangster (Jackie Shroff) for asking him the Rudrashulam, which the latter denies.

Unknowingly, Ileana carries the black diamond in her bag and Puja Bedi’s men tries to attack her for the sake of grabbing the diamond from Prabhu. In this regard Shakti (NTR), who is a guide, saves her from the goons and Ileana falls for him. Here comes a twist, where NTR discloses that he is an NSG Commando secret agent. What is the story behind the black diamond and Rudrashulam? How does Shakti safeguards the Maha shaktipeethams and kills the demons? Is the crux of the story.

Performances

NTR, who has been given A1 Star title with the film, has done dual roles. He looked handsome in the role of Shakti Swaroop and did the role at an ease. NTR excelled in the dances and rocked in the role but when it comes to the flashback episode, NTR’s role in Maharudra is a disappointment to fans. The costumes did not work with NTR and he looked odd. Meher failed to showcase him in a unique look and the role as well is wrapped up at a rapid pace.

Ileana looked ravishing in the movie. This is the comeback film for the Sexy Siren after a brief gap of her Saleem. There isn’t much scope for the lady performance wise but she has her importance, when it comes to the story connection. Ileana is attractive and did an impressive job in all her three songs.

Prabhu as Ileana’s father and central home minister, Jackie Shroff as a gangster were appreciable in their good roles. Shayaji Shinde, Vinod Kumar are impressive while SP.Balu is good in his brief role. Puja Bedi in a villainous role is mediocre while Sonu Sood has no scope for performance. Brahmanandam’s role is wasted while Manjari Phadnis is seen in a couple of scenes in a very small role.

Technical Aspects

Ashwini Dutt has spent lavishly on Shakti, and it can be seen visually in different locations. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography and Anand Sai’s art work need a special mention. The locales in North India, Dubai and Egypt are well captured. The basic concept of the Shakti peethams is a distinct and commendable idea from Meher Ramesh but execution wise, he totally failed through the screenplay. Connecting the story with the Egypt episode is useless with a missing fact. A couple of songs by Mani Sharma are good but the background score failed to lift the momentum especially in the flashback episode. Editing by Marthand.K.Venkatesh is patchy.

Analysis

The first half of the film runs on a slow pace in a typical Telugu film style with NTR as a guide and few comic scenes on Ali, Krishna Bhagavan, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam. The interval bang is quite good, where NTR reveals the look of an NSG Commando secret agent. The last ten minutes before the interval leaves you pin high hopes on the second half. However, the second half of Shakti lets down your expectations completely. The Maharudra (NTR) characterization in the flashback episode lacks punch and energy and the costumes were another let down. The climax of the film is wrapped up in a hurried way with illogical sequences and senseless script.

While NTR’s performance, production values and the cinematography are the plus points, Meher Ramesh’s direction and screenplay, editing and Rudra’s characterization are the let down’s.

Final Verdict

Just the title has Shakti…

CHANTI REVIEW        2.25/5
Film: Chattam
Starring: Jagapathi Babu, Vimala Raman, Brahmanandam, Murali Sharma, Venu Madhav, Sayaji Shinde, Ashish Vidyarthi, Pradeep Rawat, Saleem Panda, Rao Ramesh, Mayuri (Asha Saini)
Director: P A Arun Prasad
Producer: Natti Kumar, Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana
Banner: Visaka Talkies
Music: M M Srilekha

Jagapathi Babu, Vimala Raman starrer Chattam has reached the big screens today. Directed by Arun Prasad and produced by Natti Kumar and Rama Satyanarayana under Vishaka Talkies banner, Chattam is made focusing on the real life incidents of recent times. Let’s see how far the director succeeded in bringing them to big-screens, Here is the Chattam Movie review.

Story :

Gowri Shankar (Jagapathi Babu) is a corrupted Police inspector in Punjagutta Police Station. He along with his constable does settlements by bribing the criminals. One day a student called Swapna will be attacked by an eve teaser with acid. Though the criminal was caught red-handed, he gets out of the Jail with his father’s influence who is a business magnet. However, he gets killed by an unknown person later and the criminal’s father uses his power and demands CBI enquiry. Within few days, the same unknown person kills another criminal who kidnaps a girt and brutally kills her. CBI Officer (Ajay Sharma) finally identifies the unknown person through investigation, who is none other than Gowri Shankar. Shanakar heads to Mumbai and gets caught by Mumbai cops. Here comes a twist that Gowri Shankar deliberately does these activities to get arrested to meet Hasan Ali? Why does Gowri Shankar meets Hasan Ali? What was the story behind it… is to be watched on-screens.

Performances :

Jagapathi Babu as usual has done the role of a cop in his different style. His character is blended with the comedy and he did the role with ease. Cop characters are not new to him and Chattam too neither offered him unique nor challenging role.

Vimala Raman has nothing much to do in the film except a couple of scenes with Jagapathi Babu and a couple of songs, where she manages with the skin show.

Jeeva as a constable is adequate, Mukul Shamra as a CBI officer is perfect, Ashish Vidyarthi gives a decent performance as an inspector. Rest of the cast did their bit as required.

Technical Analysis :

Director Arun Prasad’s idea behind the storyline of Chattam is praiseworthy but the slow screenplay and the week editing spoils the show. Neither the dialogues nor the songs in the film are interesting. The background score by Srilekha is just okay in parts. The action scenes in the film are well shot and the cinematography is mediocre.

Analysis :

Chattam is inspired from the real-life incidents like Warangal acid case on girls, Vaishnavi’s murder case from Vijayawada and 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks but the director totally failed in its execution. The main backdrop of the film was with its screenplay which is quite predictable from scene one. The pre-climax and the climax are the other let-downs as the director comes up with a solution to eradicate these loopholes which can never be implemented in this current world. Films based on real-incidents need fine script and well-execution and unfortunately Chattam fails in both.

Final Verdict :

Wait for the film to be screened on Televisions.

Music: Koti

Raaj Story:

He comes to know that Priya left him due to some obstacles. Mythali who comes to know about this misunderstands Raj. How Raj saves Priya from her problems? Will he get back Mythali in his life or marries Priya makes the crux of the story.
Performances:
Sumanth is good in the role of. He is excelled a lot in stunt sequences and especially his chemistry with Priya Mani and Vimala Raman in the songs it outstanding.
Priya Mani plays her parts with confidence and looked glamorous all through the film. Her performance is just like earlier films and no improvement is found.
Vimala Raman still needs to improve her acting skills to make her foundation strong in the industry.
Comedy evoked by Ali and Srinivas Reddy is passable.
Technical Aspects:
The basic plot of Raaj is just like some earlier triangular love stories films in Telugu. V. N Aditya direction of the film is adequate as he made nothing fresh to bring in some uniqueness. The screenplay should have been better. Music by Koti is okay. Action sequences are conceivable and were shot well.
Analysis:
It’s like an old wine in an old bottle as nothing is appealing. Find plus points in the film and win a free International trip as more of negatives were found. On the flipside, the first half should have been made in a more interesting way and second half is very boring and was really dragged like a serial. The comedy sequences were not properly handled. On a whole, Raaj is a below average flick.
Quick Take: If u get free tickets you can watch but don’t afford!

Ravi Teja as Sudheer suited the role and did extremely well in combination episodes with Charmi. Regularly Ravi Teja will be seen in the roles of next door guy in his movies but in performing a serious kind of role he really excelled.

Charmi is as usual bubbly and looked glamorous. Her facial expressions exactly reflect the fear and anxiety that the film of such genre needs. Charmi is apt in her role effortlessly and gave an extremely natural performance.

Prakash Raj turns in a cool show as the suave cop who unveils the mystery by collecting the clues. His role in Dongala Mutha would be another memorable minuscule role in his career like that of Anthahpuram.

Lakshmi Manchu with her first film itself was showered with praises. Though her role is limited she performed well.

Brahmanadam and Sunil showed their talent again. Both of them were is hilarious with their portrayal and were just great.

Subbaraju performed well within the scope of his role. Brahmaji gets a sensible and a good role in the film while Supreet did complete justice. All three of them maintained the suspense factor well.

Technical Aspects:

Ram Gopal Varma’s main intention in making this film is to let the people know that a film can be made with even small budget and less number of days. RGV has come up with a unique thought of making a film in five days, need to see whether the film runs for atleast five days. The film is being shot using Cannon 5D still camera, which caught the visuals excellently. The technical brilliance of RGV should be appreciated as the frame to frame has been shot crystal clearly. Cinematography and Editing is by FX School and VFX @ FX is okay. Music has nothing to be mentioned.

Analysis:

Dongala Mutha doesn’t carry any content which is appealing. The first half of the film is good but the second half is pathetic and boring. However, the movie will be watched only for his technicalities, otherwise nothing is found interesting in the film.

Quick Take: 5 days making, will surely run for 5 days

CHANTI REVIEW    3/5(JUST OK)

Super Movie Review – Upendra Super Review – Super Review: Actually this film has no title except a hand symbol indicating ‘super’. Upendra is back to direction after a hiatus and he takes a simple issue and gives it his inimitable treatment. Upendra’s stamp is all over this film, be it costumes, setup, dialogues, characterizations and what not? Check out Super Movie Review…

Story:
When people in India feel responsible for the country then India will develop within no time and will become the world’s wealthiest country. In one line this is the story of Super. Subhash Chandra Gandhi (Upendra) is a patriotic businessman who lives in London. He marries a traditional Indian girl Indira (Nayanthara) but will later realize that she isn’t as traditional as he thinks. Actually, Indira deliberately marries Gandhi for a personal reason. What did Gandhi do to her? How Gandhi would bring the change that he wants to see in this country? These questions are answered in pure Uppi Dada style.

Analysis:
The opening of the film itself is wonderful. Don’t miss out Upendra’s entry as a rag picker! Title credits are designed in a funny way and it gives us a feeling that we are in for a different treat. How does India look in 2030? What if the rupee value zooms up? We would see foreigners working as slaves, cab drivers in India. Only illiterates speak English and educated knows all the Indian languages! Upenda’s wild imagination is all over the first fifteen to twenty minutes. One can’t stop grinning at all those scenes. Upendra weaves two stories into this script in his own style, a romantic thread and a patriotic angle. When a person like Upendra throws satires on the system they would definitely be hard hitting, punch-on-the-nose type.

Super has many such satires and scenes. Although the film appears completely illogical, one couldn’t help but admire Upendra for coming up with such an idea. There are many up and downs in the screenplay. The screenplay is dragged at times. Few satirical scenes misfired too. The flashback scenes involving Tulip Joshi are not up to the mark. Climax is absurd and out of place. Saying so, it is Upendra’s film and if you are used to it, Super satisfies the fan of Upendra in you.

Performances:
Upendra comes up with all those weird hairdos and costumes and he is at his weirdest best in this movie. There is a separate style of action which can be called ‘Uppi style’ and that will appeal to his cult fans. Nayanthara is good. She has a meaty role and delivers a neat performance. Tulip Joshi is limited. Ali is fine. Rest of the cast did their best to keep the flow going.

Tehnicalities:
Dialogues are superb. Punch lines uttered by Upendra on our lazy system and people are clap worthy. Music is in tune with the film. Camera work is fine but editing is shoddy at times. Visual effects are strictly Okay. Production values are neat.

Upendra satisfies his fans with his direction and script. However, other would find this movie irrelevant and impossible. Super defies logic and don’t go with your brains to watch this flick.

Plus Points:
Upendra
Dialogues
Few satirical scenes

Minus points:
Too much weirdness
Doesn’t have an universal appeal

Final Word:
Super may not appeal to all the audience. If you’ve liked Upendra’s A and Upendra films then it would impress you.

Film: Aha Naa Pellanta
Starring: Allari Naresh, Ritu Barmecha, Dr Srihari, Dr Brahmanandam
Director: Veerabrahmam
Producer: Anil Sunkara
Banner: AK Entertainments
Music: Raghu Kunche
Rating: 2.75/5
Story
Subrahmanyam (Allari Naresh) is a software engineer who lives with his uncle (Ahuti Prasad). He spends most of his time with his friend Madhu (Anitha). Naresh’s boss Busy Balraj (Brahmanandam) throws a party for getting engaged at 40. Naresh drinks heavily on the night and finds himself on the bed next day with a girl Sanjana ( Ritu Barmecha). Subrahmanyam and Sanjana both do not remember what happens in the previous night. Sanjana’s brothers (Srihari, Subbaraju, Samrat), who are factionists warns Naresh and makes an agreement to get married to Sanjana as a consequences. When Naresh forcibly agrees for the marriage, he comes to know the fact that Sihari and his family wantedly trapped Naresh, as they feel Naresh is the right match for their sister. Naresh likes Madhu and wants to marry her to get rid of Srihari and heir family. What does Naresh do? How does Srihari and co.. convince Naresh, forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Allari Naresh, as usual rocked with his fantastic comic timing and peculiar expressions. He did his best in making one and all choke with laughter. Debutant Ritu Barmecha is good and has done full justice to the role. Anitha who has made her comeback with the film, improved her acting skills. She looked stunning in the bikini.
Brahamandam needs a special mention. He has entertained the audience in every frame with his crazy dialogues and funny expressions. Though, it is Srihari’s regular role, he delivers a good job. Subbaraju is convincing, Nagineedu is outstanding, Vennela Kishore is perfect and others did their bit as required.
Technical Aspects
Veerabhadra has taken a regular story but tried to play safe by incorporating numerous comedy scenes. He could have concentrated on the story as well. Cinematography by Lokanath is fine and a couple of songs were good to be watched. Being a comic genre film, the film-makers seem to have concentrated much on dialogues which is praise-worthy. The background score is just okay. Screenplay is dull in the second half with some dragging scenes and the editing could have been much better.
Analysis
Aha Naa Pellanta is a regular story and remembers you of Bollywood film Welcome in most parts. The first half of the film is racy but the second half is lengthy with dragged climax. However, the movie provides enough entertainment with the right blend of comedy. Naresh’s characterization is quite good and the scenes between Brahnmanandam and Srihari are the highlights of the movie.
Final Word
Aha Naa Pellanta is for comedy lovers, Entertainment guaranteed…

Film: Mangala
Starring: Charmy Kaur, Subhash, Pradeep Rawat, Chitram Seenu
Director: Osho Tulasi Ram
Producer: Osho Tulasi Ram
Banner: Mantra Entertainments
Music: Vishwa

Story:
Charmi will be seen in the role of Ammulu and she plays as an actress in the film. Being a popular actress Ammulu’s crazy fan tries to meet her once and in this process Ammulu thinks that he is trying to assault her. Ammulu getting irked with the situation slaps him. By getting depressed with the scenario that his favourite actress has slapped him, he commits suicide. Here comes his father Pradeep Rawat to take revenge on Ammulu as he thinks that she is accountable for his son’s death. In this revenge drama Pradeep Rawat evokes a deadly enchantment of Black Magic which would surely indicate the death of someone on whom it is exploited. Ultimately Charmi turns as a sufferer for Pradeep Rawat’s Black Magic this time. How Charmi saves herself from Black Magic? Who comes in rescue of her? Will form the crux of the story.
Performances:
Charmi has gone into the skin of the role and performed incredibly the fear of perfection. Her makeover from an innocent actress to a victim of witchcraft was susceptible, frightening, and innocent. But the results of her performance definitely will not register as the story looked very much non-natural. Pradeep Rawat originally has scary looks and in the role of a witchcrafts man he brought the required scary element with his acting. Subbu, who played the role of Charmi’s friend performed well. Uttej, Anand Bharathi, Vijay Sai and Saptagiri are good and gave decent performance. The rest of the artists in this horror genre were adequate as there is nothing to mention.
Technical Departments:
Osho Tulasiram who penned the story and screenplay besides directing the film has lost the track in the mid way of the film. The story is completely predictable. The cinematography is decent. The film moved like Rajadhani express till the end of first half and started the lagging session with never ending drama while in the journey of reaching the climax. The climax is hopeless and senseless which will truly put you into a mind-numbing mood. Music by Viswa has scored high as the background score and the sound effects were well suited. By keeping debate aside whether Mangala is good or bad, did it serve the purpose is the main point to be known.
Analysis:
Though the plot of Mangala is decent, director Osho Tulasiram failed in its narration and presentation. The first half of the film moves completely on a predictable note while the second half is totally dragged and tests one’s patience. Charmi has delivered her career’s best performance in Mangala, but all went in vain due to director’s incapability.
Final Word: Choice left to you whether to watch it in theaters or small screen

Film: Kudirithe Kappu Coffee

Starring: Varun Sandesh,Suma Bhattachaya

Director: Ramana Salwa

Producer: Mahi,Shiva

Banner: Moon water

Music: Yogeshwara Sharma

Varun Sandesh, who has faced series of flops after Kotha Bangaru Lokam is all set to strike the silver-screens to test his luck today with the film Kudirithe Kappu Coffee. The movie has been released approximately in 100 screens. KKC is a non-commercial urbane love story. Will Varun scores a hit finally? Here is the Kudirithe Kappu Coffee Movie Review… Check out

Story

Venu (Varun Sandesh) develops hatred towards love and love stories as his close friend Ravi commits suicide due to love failure. Venu’s father sends him to Coorg to improve the business of coffee shop, which he had given away to his close friend’s mother Malathi teacher. Venu however does not reveal his identity to them. Lasya, the granddaughter of Malathi completes Hotel Management and is also in plans to turn the Coffee Shop into a top class resort. She joins with Venu for their goal and in the process she falls in love with him. However, Venu who is in misconception about love shows disinterest towards her. How does Venu finally fall in love clearing his misconception is he rest of the story.

Performances

Varun Sandesh came up with a clean-shaved look in the film unlike his earlier ones, but has to say, it did not suit him to his best. However, compared to his earlier films Varun has been improved in his dialogue delivery. KKC did not give much scope for emotional scenes. So, Varun has justified to his role.

Debutant Suma Battacharya looked good in few scenes and performance wise, she is convincing.

Bhimaneni Srinivas Rao and Tanikella Bharani were fine. The lady who did the role of Malathi teacher gave a decent performance.

Technical Aspects

Director Ramana Salva has come up with a distinct storyline but somehow lost the grip on the plot. His screenplay and direction are the minus points for the film.

Santhosh Rai’s cinematography is an asset for KKC. The locales were fresh and nicely captured. Yogeshwar Sharma’s debut as a music director was appreciable. Back-ground score was praise worthy and Sirivennela’s lyrics are excellent. Dialogues by Abbur Ravi are okay in parts. Production values are good.

Analysis

Though Kudirthe Kappu Coffee has an impressive storyline, it was badly dealt in its direction and screenplay. The movie moves on a very slow pace and you get a doubt if you are watching an art film at a point. It is hard to connect to the storyline as the director disturbs with the slow paced screenplay and misplaced songs. This non-commercial love story might be liked by the urbane audiences. But it’s hard to sustain at the Box-Office with World-Cup fever.

Final Word

It’s not everyone’s cup of coffee!!!

CHANTI REVIEW  3/5 (CLEAN MOVIE)

Srinu (Aadi) hails from Khammam town and is studying in Hyderabad. He likes his collegemate Prema (Isha Chawla), which later turns into love. Prema gets miffed with Srinu for kissing her. Srinu goes to Himachal Pradesh. The home Minister suspends Vijaya Ramarao for the lapse and in turn Vijaya Ramarao punishes his daughter. Seeing all this, Srinu goes in search of the terrorist. The plot unfolds how Srinu brought back the terrorist and won Prema's love.

Analysis
His previous movies like "Nuvve Kavali", "Nuvvu Naku Nacchaav" and "Mallishwari", very well prove what sort of a director Vijaya Bhaskar is. There's no need to ddoubt his abilities as a director. Vijaya Bhaskar succeded in moulding "Prema Kavali" into a youthful love story, much to the liking of the younger generation. While the flick's first part moves on briskly with entertainment, the director filled the other half with action packed drama. Though it's an old formula of him, Vijaya Bhaskar's deftness in presenting "Prema Kavali" in a new way, spares the audience from getting bored mid-way in to the film.

CHANTI Perspective
Acting: Aadi had the privilege of inheriting acting talents from his grandfather P J Sharma and father Sai Kumar. His brilliant performance on screen clearly shows that he not only inherited talent, but also has undergone vigorous training in acting. Aadi has all the qualities abundantly which the new generation heroes require. He emanated quite an energy in dance and fight sequences. Even though "Prema Kavali" is his first film, it's no where felt that he's a debutant. He perfomed well with ease and in an experienced manner. He has a bright future ahead. Coming to the heroine Isha Chawla, she too permed very well. Bramhanandam and MS Narayana comedy is also palatable. Ali also succeeded in tickling the ribs. Others also did justice to their respective roles.

Music: This movie will fetch a good break for Anoop Reubens as music director. All the songs are good. Re-recording also good.
Camera: Chota K Naidu's expertise in photo graphy is well known to all. In this movie also he did a brilliant job.
Dialogues: Some of the punches here and there in the dialogues are attractive. Prasad Varma did a good job.

Lyrics: Vijaya Bhaskar's movies usually have good standards of lyrics. Literary values of lyrics in this movie are on the higher side.

Editing: Goutham Raju has edited hundreds of films so far. His expertise in editing is very much obvious in this movie.

Art: Ravinder's art directions is good. sets excelled in song sequences,
Choreography: Choreography in all the songs is good.
Action: Ram-Laxman's action composing is good.

Director : Praveen Sattaru
Music Director : Anil
Producer : Naveen Sattaru, Deborah Stone
Starring : Asif Taj, Rohan Gudlavalleti, Nishanthi Evani, and others

In Praveen Satturu’s sensitive portrayal of modern relationships, there are instances where you almost spring from your chair to shriek that it’s you on screen. So profound is the impact of some scenes that it prompts you to take a trip down the memory lane and recollect all those important people you have met in your life. Life Before Wedding (LBW) has six characters starring Asif, Rohan, Chinmayi, Abhejit, Sidhu and Nishanti. The film has two parallel stories which chronicle the lives of these six characters and how their relationships change over a period of time.

What’s the story : Rishi (Sidhu) and Jai (Abhejit) are good friends who get introduced to Anu (Nishanti). Anu is a little reserved and doesn’t encourage Rishi to flirt with her. When Anu and Jai strike a friendship, it’s not too late before they realize that they are in love with each other. Elsewhere, in Dallas, USA, Radhika (Chinmayi) believes that Rakesh (Rohan) is the man of her dreams and proposes to him one day. When Rakesh turns her down, she finds her solace in Varun (Asif). How this ever-changing relationships influence their lives forms the rest of the story.
What is Good : Praveen Satturu, the director & writer, makes a solid debut with LBW. The six characters which he has written for the film have their own individuality which is quite blatant. None of them are dwarfed in comparison with the other. What’s endearing is that all the six actors who portray the respective roles put in their heart and soul into the film. LBW’s biggest strength is the conversations between the actors. The maturity with which the relationships are handled stands out in the film. In a way, they end up being the reflection of the new generation of adults who are independent and at the same time face the dilemma of whether to break free from parental pressure or bow your head to destiny. Of the actors, Nishanti and Abhejit stand out and the fact that their track has more emotional appeal than others works in their favour. Abhejit as Jai is almost perfect as a college student who suddenly realizes that he’s in love with his friend and on the other hand, Nishanti as Anu conveys a lot of emotions through her eyes. Among other actors, Chinmayi scores an ace, thanks to the flamboyant and chirpy role that she enacts. Rohan fits into the shoes of his character pretty well. Asif and Sidhu do a commendable job too.
What is bad: The film’s screenplay which flip-flops between the two stories is a little difficult to adjust to in the beginning. While we see the two stories are indeed compliment each other in terms of how the relationships unfold, the emotional graph has its share of ups and downs. It’s only when the narration concentrates on one couple’s story for a longer time that the film makes the maximum impact.
Technical Departments : Andrew Red, Suresh Bhargav’s cinematography is a huge asset to the film. Right from the colours used for every frame to the lighting, they do a wonderful job in the film. Anil R’s music is soothing and most of the songs are part of story-telling. Editing by Dharmendra’s is good and he gives enough room for conversations to take their own course without cutting anything short. LBW is Praveen Satturu first attempt at filmmaking and prior to this he has never called the shots or written a story. Well, what can we say? His zeal to make a sensible film and choice of actors make LBW a good watch. The best part about the film is how Praveen handles emotions other than love, which is never mushy. The tears and the anguish of the couples are genuine and Praveen captures it to the tee.
Bottomline : The climax of the film throws up lot of interesting questions about how the characters deal with their destinies. It would be a crime to reveal what the climax is or if these two parallel stories are inter-connected and I recommend that you watch the film to come to your own conclusions. Fate is a strange thing – it surprises you at the most unexpected situations. For some it becomes a reason to celebrate and other accept it because they have no other choice. And Life Before Wedding (LBW) is a wonderful film which chronicles some such instances which decide our fate. It might very well be our own life’s story or at least a part of it. Thumbs up for the film and the team. It’s good to see at least some people believing in their films so much that they don’t try to please everyone.

Film: ERRA GULABILU
Banner: Manadesam Movies
Cast: Sameera Reddy, Veera, Karthik, Deva, Samantha, Swapna Abraham, Ashwin and others
Cinematographer: Manoj Paramahamsa
Director: Gautham Menon
Producer: Vallabhaneni Ashok
Release date: 18/02/2011

Story:
A gripping tale, the story begins with the kidnapping of Sukanya (sameera) and her boyfriend (ashwin) is killed brutally. In comes the investigating cop S P Vijay (deva) and he discovers a girl behind this. As a result, Vijay reaches a bungalow in the city outskirts and here he comes across Samar (veera). This teenager reveals his flashback which involves his sexually abused childhood, his relation with neighbour Meenakshi (swapna abraham) and how her marriage leads to a killing spree. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a gripping storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was strong. The dialogues were sharp, the script was tight and the screenplay was taut. There is no music and that is a highlight. Cinematography is top notch and scores the brownie points. Editing was crisp. Costumes were natural and trendy while the art department was apt and haunting. Sameera Reddy has come up with an impressive performance. Swapna Abraham looks sensuous and she carries her role well. Deva makes his presence felt with his act. Samantha was brief. The real show stealer was Veera who got into the skin of the character and gives shivers.

Conclusion:
It is not often that one dares to come up with such types of movies and the entire team must be appreciated for this effort. While the opening is a bit complicated, the film begins to settle with each passing scene. The first half was somewhat mild but the real chills begin in the second half. Overall, this is a film which is meant for select audience but to those who love unconventional cinema and spine chilling treats, this will work. At the box office, this will be a profit grosser.

Film: KSD Appalraju

Starring: Sunil, Swathi, Bramanandam,Sakshi Gulati

Director: Ram Gopal Verma

Producer: Kiran Kumar Koneru

Banner: Shreya Productions

Music: Koti,Sunil Kashyap

After a long gap of 12 years, Ram Gopal Varma has made the straight Telugu film Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalraju with Sunil in the title role. KSD Appalraju has created much hype in media circles for its released promos and brochure. Did Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalraju live up to the expectations? Is KSD Appalraju worth the hype? Take a look

Story

Appalraju (Sunil) hails from Amalapuram and is a devoted movie lover. He spends his most of the time in watching films in Rambha theatre in Amalapuram for which, his father (Chalapati Rao) scolds him. Appalraju decides to leave to Hyderabad and hopes to comeback to Amalapuram only after he becomes a big director in Tollywood. He goes to his friend Subbadu (Rajesh) in Hyderabad who also leaves Amalapuram for becoming a hero, but in vain. Appalraju however get in touch with Raakhi(Raghubabu) a producer. Raakhi reads Appalraju’s script Nayaki and says he would help him. Appalraju decides to cast Kanishka (Sakshi) and manages to get her call-sheets. However, a corporate firm manager, who have to provide finance for the film says they will finalize the film, only if the film has a big hero like Babu (Adarsh). When everything is set for his movie to take off, the hero and heroine of the film Babu and Kanishka who are in love initially breaks up. What hurdles Appalraju face? Will Appalraju’s movie starts rolling forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Sunil, who played the title role of the film, gave his committed performance and has done justification to his role. He once again proved that he is a good dancer as well with a couple of numbers. However, Appalraju’s character is not an apt one to Sunil

Swathi gave a mediocre performance in her limited role, but it is high time to change her regular and routine expressions as it is irritating at times.

Sakshi Gulati is hot and she has chances to grow in as a glam heroine. Raghu Babu was apt, Bramhanandam and Venu Madhav are the saving graces, Adarsh was ok, Ajay was good, Tanikella Bharani, M S Narayana were adequate. RGV hasn’t given much scope for performance to any of the roles.

Technical Aspects

Though KSD Appalraju storyline is interesting, Varma totally failed in its Katha (story), Screenplay and Darsakatvam (Direction). The movie takes off on an exciting note, but has lost its grip, making it uninteresting in no time with a stale story and poor screenplay. Cinematography is ordinary, Dialogues are not interesting. Editing is not impressive. Background score by Koti was just alright and only the first couple of songs are good to watchout for. Production values are poor.

Analysis

KSD Appalraju, though starts on an exciting note, looses its tempo in no time due to its weak story, bad screenplay and horrible climax. RGV fails to manage audiences in connecting to the film. Unnecessary characters and their scenes make us irritate at times. While First-half of the film ends on an unexciting note, the second-half totally tests our patience and when it comes to climax part, you totally loose your patience and run away from theaters.

Final Word

A Painful Watch !!!

Starring: Akkineni Nagarjuna, Prakash Raj, Poonam Kaur, Sana

Director: Radha Mohan

Producer: Dil Raju

Banner: Sri Venkateswara Creations

Music: Pravin Mani

Nagarjuna starrer Gaganam is hitting the big-screens today. Nagarjuna has come up with a hijack-drama genre flick, in the role of a Commando. Being directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Dil Raju, Gaganam throws light on the terrorism and terrorists with the hijack of an airplane. Here is the Gaganam movie review for you

Story

The movie takes off with a group of terrorists hijacking an airplane with 75passengers, which is from Chennai to Delhi, making an emergency landing at Tirupati. The hijackers demand for the release of their terrorist leader Yousuf Khan from prison. Home secretary Vishwanath (Prakash Raju), National Security adviser, along with National Security Guards officer Raveendra (Nagarjuna) comes down to Tirupati for handling the situation. Initially, the Government refuses commando operation and releases Yousuf Khan from prison, however Yousuf Khan gets killed on a road accident in the travel. How do Raveendra along with his team completes their mission and saves the passengers is the rest of the film to be watched on big-screens.

Performances

Nagarjuna undoubtedly is the show stealer as a commando, with his charm and dignified looks. He played a distinct and a challenging role and has excelled in it.

Prakash Raj is as usual at his best in the limited role of Home Secretary. Poonam Kour as airhostess is good, Vijay as Colonel, Ravi as pilot are perfect, Harshavardhan as reporter is convincing, Pridhvi as film-actor could have done better. Brahmanandam as film-director is good.

Technical Aspects

It was director Radha Mohan, who should be commended for coming up with a distinct niche subject. He managed to keep the audiences hooked with his interesting narration and effective screenplay through out.

Cinematography by Guhan is a big asset for the film which brings out a realistic feel with some innovative angles. Shot with RED digital camera, it gives us a natural feel, especially the scenes showcasing the flight interiors and scenes in the office of airport. Art director needs a special mention for the specially erected airplane set at Ramoji film city. Background score is inspiring and elevates certain scenes in the film. Editing by Kishore is perfect. Dialogues by Anu Radha are simple and good. The production values are of superior range.

Analysis

Gaganam is a first full-length tollywood film made on hijack drama and director Radha Mohan comes out as a winner. The movie is purely based on its content with no place for either songs or physical fights or separate comedy track. Still, the director manages to keep you glued to the screens with effective performances and well-shot interplay of emotions between all the characters, and its rich production values.

Verdict

People who appreciates distinct and unique cinema will surely love Gaganam. Watch it!!!

Manchu Vishnu, Tapsee starrer Vasthadu Naa Raju is out in theatres today. After a series of duds like Krishnarjuna, Saleem, Vishnu is back with Vasthadu Naa Raju under the direction of Hemanth Madhukar, who earlier made a Bollywood film A Flat. Vasthadu Naa Raju is romantic comedy entertainer and Vishnu has pinned high hopes on the film. Did Vishnu click this time around? Does he impress the audiences? Here’s the review for you…
Story
Narasimha (Prakash Raj) is a goon, who aims to become a MLA by being close to Home minister Aadhikesavalu (Sayaji Shinde). Ajay (Ajay), son of Aadhikeshavalu desperately wants to marry Pooja (Tapsee), sister of Narasimha. Both the families agree for the alliance and Aadhikeshavalu says he offers MLA seat in the coming elections. Meanwhile, Narasimha gets into wrong impression that Pooja is in love with Venky (Manchu Vishnu), an aspiring kick-boxer but surprisingly, both of them doesn’t know each other. Narasimha, on worrying about losing his MLA seat attacks Venky and his whole family. On seeking revenge, Venky kidnaps Pooja and hides her at Rajesh (Brahmanandam) house. Rajesh is the love interest of Aadhikesavalu’s wife and also the P.A to him. During this kidnap episode, Venky and Pooja falls in love with each other. How Narasimha reacts to their love? Will Venky fulfill his dream of Kick-boxing? What happens to Aadikeshavulu and his son Ajay forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Though Manchu Vishnu tries to give a decent performance, he still lacks portraying emotions in dialogue delivery. Compared to his earlier flicks, Vishnu managed in his dance steps and fights. Vishnu still needs an improvement in acting.
Tapsee sizzled with her looks all through the film. She scores fair marks performance wise too. Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam though came up with routine roles, have done their parts convincingly. Sayaji Shinde is okay, Ajay is impressive. Other casts Tanikella Bharani, Pragathi, Satya Krishna, Tulasi were adequate.
Technical Aspects
Though the movie starts off on an interesting note, director Hemanth Madhukar slowly lost the grip on the film. The movie is good in parts with few strong points. However, being a debut directorial in Tollywood, Hemanth made a decent work. The storyline and script was good but screenplay could have been much better. Gowtham Raju’s editing is patchy. Gopal Reddy’s cinematography is limited to songs. Mani Sharma’s music and Background score has helped out to some extent. Production values are average.
Analysis
Vasthadu Naa Raju is a regular and routine commercial and formulaic film with a kick-boxing hero, glamorous heroine, a strong villain in the form of heroine’s brother and an entertaining comedian. The movie runs on a predictable line and so, the film lacks excitement. While Tapsee’s good looks, comedy bits in the first and picturisation of songs are the plus points, Regular and routine drama, wrong placement of the songs are minus for Vasthadu Naa Raju.
Verdict
Though Vasthadu Naa Raju doesn’t give a great break for Vishnu, it is far better than his disastrous Saleem.

Film: Jai Bolo Telangana
Starring: Jagapathi Babu, Smruti Irani, Nagineedu, AVS, Vidy
Director: N.Shankar
Producer: N.Shankar
Music: Chakri

Story

Varshith, a Telangana student of Osmania University falls for her classmate Sahana, who hails from Vijayawada. Varshith is the son of Bandagi Gopanna (Jagapathi Babu), who sacrifices his life fighting for Telangana. Gopanna’s father and grandfather too earlier dies fighting for Telangana. Varshith’s mother Jayamma (Smriti Irani) wants his son to fight for separate Telangana state. Initially Varshit do not take the movement seriously, but later he realizes the problems of the village people and joins the Telangana movement. Varshith and Sahana gets parted due to regional issues. Will Varshit succeed or not forms the rest of the story.

Performances

It’s important for the cast to perform well and put in emotional feelings in such revolutionary films and director Shankar has chosen all new faces except Jagapathi Babu and few others. Family entertainer Jagapati Babu has played an entirely different role as a fighter for Seperate Telangana and he succeeds in doing such role.

Smruti Ilani played a lengthy role in the film and she did an okay job. Jhansi has given dubbing for her.

Young actor Sandeep and Meera Nandan were fine with their decent performances.

Other casts AVS, Janardhana Maharshi, Nagineedu were adequate.

Technical Aspects

Story, Direction

Director Shankar has taken one sidedness in the story narration and he only highlighted the film with separate Telangana point. Shankar has mainly focused on the issues happened in December 2009. He has directly attacked few politicians through few dialogues in the film. The united Andhra agitation in Seemandhra was a direct attack on MP Lagadapati. However, the movie lacks interest as director has put his focus more on the love story. He has used most of the screen time for love story, which does not helped much for the main content. Poor Screenplay, dull climax and bad script are the negative points of the film.

Music plays an important role in such revolutionary films and Chakri has succeeded in that with Gaddar’s ‘Podusthunna Poddumeeda,’ KCR’s ‘Gaaradi Chesthundru’ songs. Cinematography was ok but editing could have been better.

Analysis

Jai Bolo Telangana might do well in the Telangana region, but overall, director Shankar has come up with poor technical values, badly penned script and single sided content. Jai Bolo Telangana is just for Telangana lovers.

Film: Vareva
Starring: Goutham, Shambhavi, Brahmanandam, Ashish Vidyarthi
Director: Maheswara Rao
Producer: Maheswara Rao
Banner: Movie Miracles
Music: Mahesh Shankar
Rating: 1.25/5

Brahmanandam’s son Gautham starrer Vareva has reached the big-screens with Vareva. This is his second film, while his first flick Pallakilo Pelli Kuthuru failed to create the mark at Box-Office. Let’s see if audiences say Varevaa after watching the film.

Story

Rishi (Gautam) is a happy going guy and an engineering student who falls in love with Sandhya (Shambavi), who is her classmate. Sandhya’s father (Devan) is a rich business man and approves their love. The couple leaves to Vizag for the blessings of Rishi’s mom. Rishi gets attacked in Vizag by some goons and everyone feels that it is Devan who did it. But it is by a Vizag goon Bhupathi (Ashish Vidyarthi), as Gautham accidentally kills his brother while saving one of his friends. Bhupati’s men chase him and how Gautham solves the problem is all about the film.

Performances

Gautham is yet to learn a lot on his acting skills. He is nowhere comparable to his father Brahmanandam in terms of acting or expressions. However, he is good at dancing and fights.

Debutant lady Shambavi is just for her looks. She does not register any impact on her role in terms of acting.

Brahmanandam could have been given a good role, instead director failed to utilize the comedy king to the fullest with a badly designed role. Master Bharath’s role is too loud and at times irritating. Ashish Vidyardhi is okay. Rest of the cast Venu Madhav, Vennela Kishore, Krishna Bhagavan and other roles too were badly handled.

Technical Aspects

Looks like the team hardly gave importance to the technical aspects. Director has come up with a thin storyline with some illogical scenes. The screenplay of the film is horrible and the dialogues are bad. Mahesh Shankar’s music is below average. Cinematography is another back draw and editing is weak. Fights by Ram Lakshman are good.

Analysis

Director Mahi handled the film poorly with bad script, pathetic screenplay, pale comedy, and weak climax. Neither of the elements creates any interest on the film, but tests your patience. It’s definitely not apt to its title Vareva!

Gopichand, Deeksha Seth starrer Wanted under the direction of B.V.S. Ravi, has hit the screens world-wide today. Gopichand, who is not in the success form off late is looking for a good break with Wanted. Let’s checkout if Wanted puts him back in the success track.
Story
Rambabu (Gopichand) is a happy going guy with his loving parents. He falls in love with a house surgeon Nandini (Deeksha Seth) when she saves his mom’s life. Rambabu chases her for his love and at times saves her from goons. He asks Nandini, what he needs to do, to prove his love. Nandini asks him to kill Basava Raju (Prakash Raj), who killed her father (Nazar), an honest cop and her entire family. Rambabu finally goes after the goons and kills Basava Raju.
Performances
Gopichand has done similar kind of roles, good number of times and it’s time for Gopichand to take special care on scripts and avoid films like Wanted, which has a routine stuff with thin storyline.
Deeksha Seth is certainly the USP of the film with her enough oomph and looks. She did reasonably well to her role, but needs to improve interms of acting to make it big in Tollywood.
Prakash Raj is perfect as villain but it’s another regular role for him. Subbaraju is apt, Ahuti Prasad, Chandramohan, Jayasudha and Nazar did their justice to their roles. Brahmanandam generates few laughs and Ali is ok in his limited role.
Technical Aspects
Director B.V.S.Ravi has comeout with a regular routine predictable storyline without any excitement. Wanted lacks freshness and uniqueness. Cinematography by Rasool Ellore is good, where the film has some picturesque locales in songs. Shankar’s editing could have been much better. Chakri’s music is average with a couple of songs standout.
Analysis
Wanted is a regular routine predictable revenge saga without any excitement. The first-half of the film moves in a hope, looking out for good second-half. But the second half disappoints you terribly with a small, predictable flashback in the lines of Kalyan Ram’s Athanokkade. Watch it if you are a die-hard fan of Gopichand and Deeksha Seth’s admirer.

Review by andhravilas    Below Average

Ranga (Srikanth) along with his gang spends their lives as thieves stealing from the corrupt Police Officers. Likewise, he falls in love with inspector Mangamma (vimala). Apart from being a thief, Ranga has a passion towards factionism. He loves everything about factionists and loves watching faction cinema. Life takes a new turn when he meets a real faction leader Bhavani Prasad (Srikanth again). Who is Bhavani Prasad? What is the link between Ranga and Bhavani Prasad forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Srikanth made a decent performance throughout but few scenes between him and Vimala Raman brings us the feel of over-action.
Vimala Raman is okay and did not have much role to perform. But, the actress needs to choose right characters for her career. Ramya Krishna presence was alright.  Telangana Sakuntala was apt to the role. Sakshi Shivanand and Naga Babu’s guest appearance were fine. Jayaprakash Reddy Jyothi, Bhuvaneshwari, Tarzan did their justice to roles. The other actors were just to fill the screen space.
Technicalities
The story was a good concept but the director miserably failed in bringing it to the big-screens. He made it with a routine screenplay and poor presentation. There is nothing special to be talked of technicalities. Editing could have been much better.  Chakri’s songs were not appealing and the background music too was just okay.
Verdict
‘Ranga The Donga’ has nothing unique to offer. All it had was mass masala elements with lots of action and glamorous dances. Better to skip it.

STORY
A rich man (Sarath Babu) in a village has five daughters and he lives in a palatial mansion. His elder daughter Gayatri (Kamlinee Mukherjee) - a danseuse wins a priced possession of portrait that is 100 year old. It is a portrait of Chandramukhi who is supposed to have worked as a dancer in a king durbar. Things start go wrong in the house for five young women after their sister brings home the potrait. The elder one dies in an accident, the prospective grooms who were supposed to marry the younger daughters keep rejecting them. Horrified by the bad omens, the rich man invites an psychic to find out what went wrong. The psychic suggest a psychiatrist Vijay (Venkatesh). Venkatesh stays in rich man’s house to study the case. He also realises that things are going bad after Gayatri got Chandramukhi portrait to rich man’s house. The rest of the story is all about how Dr. Vijay solves the case.

PERFORMANCE

VENKAKY performance is not up to the mark of the rajini, the top performances in this movie are anushka and kamilini mukherjee.

GRAPHICS

GRAPHIC WORK IS GOOD

VERDICT;    JUST OK
chanti review   3.25/5 (above average)
A family in Mysore is disturbed by a painting of Nagavalli and master of the home contacts Ramachandra Acharya . And Acharya decides to take the help of Captain raju(Venkatesh), a psychiatrist, to solve the problem. Captain collects brief information about the family members before coming to their home. He stuns them at his very entry by revealing their psychology. How he unravels the Nagavalli mystery should be watched on screen.

As usual, Vishnuvardhan has delivered a energetic performance even at 60. He impresses the audience in all fight, comedy and serious scenes. Avinash is wonderful as Acharya. Sandhya, Vimala Raman, Ramesh Bhat, Shrinivas Murthy, Bhavana, Komal Kumar and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy are also good in their respective roles.

Gurukiran's music is another highlight of the movie, but it lacks the charm that existed in Apthamitra. The movie has six songs and 'Chamundi Tayiyane Nanendu Nimmone...' is excellent and it echoes in the viewers' minds long after they leave cinema hall. The camera work, art and costume designing are also commendable.

The movie Aaptha Rakshaka does not offer anything extraordinary when compared to the original. But one should not miss ot see the last and the best performance of Dr. Vishnuvardhan, who died of heart attack on 30th December 2009.

Banner: Moving Images
Cast: Vikram, Sree Divya, Bhanuchander, George Vincent, Ramaraju, Annapurna, Usha Sree, Krishnamohan, Anitha, M S Narayana and others
Music: Sekhar Chandra
Cinematography: N Sudhakar Reddy
Director: Ravi Babu
Producer: K Prakash Babu
Release date: 10/12/2010
Story
A routine romantic tale, the story is about Vikram (vikram) who lives in Hyderabad and he is basically a very chicken hearted guy. His family gets transferred to Rajapalayam in Kerala and this is a small place where ancient customs and traditions are followed. The settlement of issues is usually done by a fight of Kalari, the ancient martial art. Vikram sees Anjali (sree divya) and falls in love with her and soon, she also reciprocates. However, Anjali's aunt harasses her while her 'bava' Rajan Pillai (George) has got a lecherous eye on her. Rajan is also a famous Kalari champion. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a rather routine storyline but then he has packed it well with some creative presentation but an okay narrative. The dialogues were regular, the script was not strong but the screenplay was better. Background score was okay but it was disturbing at times and one song was nice. The real credit in the film goes to cinematography. Editing was alright but could have been better in few places. Costumes were constant and the art department was excellent. Vikram was okay in his act but he must work hard for a longer innings. Sree Divya looks sweet and homely and she has done her bit as required. Bhanuchander was good and he got a meaningful role after a long time. George Vincent was a showstealer, he has potential. Ramaraju was regular, Annapoorna was apt, M S Narayana was brief, Krishnamohan was annoying, Ushasree was okay.
Conclusion:
The film is made on the backdrop of Kerala and the Kalari fighting. Though it may not belong to the modern time the film scores on the locations and the greenery to give the visual appeal. However, it has done very poorly on the storyline. While the first half looks silly and repetitive, it is only the second half which has the right momentum and gets few points. Overall, the film focused well on technical aspects but was lacking conviction and connection with the audience. At the box office, scoring a hit will be very difficult.
verdict: Good presentation, poor content

Movie starts now, funny introduction to Naresh and Venu
Decent introduction to Kamna Jethmalani leads to 1st Song.
First song shot in Thailand, half decent number
Loud comedy by E.V.V’s is some times cheesy, but it definitely is laughable
Enter Ali, very crude comedy. Families watch out!.
The scenes in which E.V.V gets original are a laugh riot.
The scenes in which E.V.V gets original are a laugh riot.
Another song now, just for the heck of it. This one is shot in Thailand too.
So here comes the twist in the tale! Fun doesn’t seem to end though.
The first half ends. E.V.V’s comedy has always been slap stick, but the issues he touches are not for from real. The movie is so far so good.
2nd half starts. Enter Kota Srinivasa Rao.
Enter Ahuti Prasad too. Comedy’s getting too loud.
Laugh out loud scenes, but the story takes back seat.
Item number now, just for front benchers.
Certain twists are possible only in E.V.V’s films. Lead to the climax.

What’s it about: Rakta Charitra Part 1 narrates us about how Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberori), an average guy, becomes a blood chasing killer and how he rises in stature – from being a leader of a group to a popular politician. Rakta Charitra 2Rakta Charitra part 1 ended. At a time when no one questions the power, wisdom and influence of Pratap, Surya (played by Tamil actor Surya) plots and attempts to kill Pratap with a bomb blast. For the first time Pratap and his men are beaten by an ordinary man. They are also beaten by the police as they trace who the plotter is! In fact the police lead by Officer Mohan Prasad (Kannada actor Sudeep), first capture Surya’s wife Bhavani (Priyamani) and use her as a bait to arrest Surya. starts off exactly where
It is in the jail that Surya tells why he wants to kill Pratap and keeps hoping to kill him one day! It is having an enemy in the comfort zone of a jail that bothers Pratap! It is Pratap who has become a spot of bother for State’s politicians. Rakta Charitra 2 is a complex mixture of how a person’s thirst for revenge breaks a tough man’s defenses and how political parties benefit from this war!

f this film were made in one part, I would have written first half of the movie is good (Rakta Charitra part 1) and second half should have been better (Rakta Charitra part 2). The orientation of these two parts is different. Part 1 was played to galleries and Part 2 is dwelled more on emotional content. The plus points of the movie are Surya and a few intense scenes. On the flip side, narration is slow and story is highly fictional. We have to wait and see how part 2 of the successful Rakta Charitra fares at the box office.
What is Good: It isn’t always that you’d say almost ‘everything works’ for a Telugu movie, but it does for Rakta Charitra 2. The first half is as amazing as any Telugu movie can get. The graph of the story goes up, stays up, and merges with how humans are conditioned by situations toward the end. It is a journey into one man’s revenge story, and how other things like personal relationships, social responsibilities and intrinsic belief systems are stirred and shaken!
What is bad: The second part gets touch slower, as the director tries to bring in all the complex sides on one to stage. One problem is the expectations set by audience themselves after watching the first part. They expect violence, and a character like Bukka Reddy. Nevertheless the second part is an emotional affair, and manages to intrigue. Yes the climax could have been better, but it is the post climax that gives the movie its high. What might disappoint people is that the movie doesn’t side with any of the real life characters it has been inspired from. It never showcases either Paritala Ravi or Maddelacheruvu Suri as heroes or victims or villains. Instead it portrays them as men who rose and fell. This is hard for typical Telugu audiences to understand.

Music: Harris Jayaraj
Cinematography: Rajasekhar, Kiran
Editor: Marthand K Venkatesh
Story, screenplay, direction: Baskar
Producer: Naga Babu
Release date: 26/11/2010
Ramcharan Tej is coming back after his mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ and this time, he is seen in a lover boy image. And Bhaskar, after his Parugu has come up with this ‘Orange’.
Story: Set on the backdrop of Australia, Ram (Ramcharan) is an youngster who loves graffiti but he doesn’t believe in love for lifetime. He wants to say truth all the while with respect to love life and live with open mind, open thought and open action with his partner.
This leads to a clash of ideology with Jaanu (Genelia) who studies in the same college and what starts out as a romantic tale between them both turns out to be a relationship of confusion and complications.
Ram explains this entire story as his flash back while a police cop (Prakash Raj) asks him as a part of informal interrogation (!)
Jaanu believes in everlasting love but given the thought process of Ram, will they be together? Can they really love each other? All this forms the rest of the story.
Performances:Ramcharan did his best to fit the lover boy tag and he was neat in his dance and dialogue delivery. Two things he must avoid- a clean shave and full body shots while in a group. There was no emotional depth in his character so his body language was average.
Genelia was depressing and disappointing. Her costumes were bizarre, the make up was patchy and her face looked blotted. She has lost the innocence and charm. Perhaps it is age but the blame also goes to the styling and her image etching. Performance wise, she was regular and didn’t have any special acts.
Shahzahn comes like a breath of fresh air and though she was brief, she looks cute and attractive. She has the potential to take lead roles.
Prakashraj was regular, Brahmi’s comedy was not upto the mark, Prabhu and Pavitra Lokesh were alright, Vennela Kishore was wasted, Madhurima was quick but sweet, Naga Babu made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer except filling the screens and rolling out few lines.
Highlights:Songs (although no much variety among each other)
Dances by Ram Charan
Production Values
Disappointments:Theme
Dialogue
Lack of emotion quotient
Characterizations
Analysis:
The fundamental blunder in the film is that when speaking about love it should be run on emotions and feeling but not on calculation. To make things worse, Baskar tries to explain the calculation with his own narrative style which was rather confusing. He had something noble and different in mind but he could not conceive it in the right manner on the screen. There is no emotion, no romance, no chemistry between the lead pair, no sentiment and above all, no comedy. At one stage, it becomes like a boring mathematics class where the audience have become students and are trying to understand what Professor Bhaskar is trying to explain on the love algorithm.
The other disappointment is the philosophy on love. While it is nice to have an ocean full of love, it is common sense that love alone is not life. They are two different entities and the essence of life is in striking a balance between both. Fortunately, what Baskar was trying to say ended up confusing many in the theatre but to those who may have understood a fraction of it, this is truly dangerous. On the other hand, there are quite a number of instances where Bhaskar tried to take the route of Gautam Menon but the difference is chalk and cheese.
The good side of the film is the songs and their picturization which was really impressive and visually appealing. Charan’s efforts in songs were commendable. The fight sequence which involves the spray cans was also creative and colorful. As for his much hyped sky diving stunt, that is not so appealing as expected.
Overall, the film is good on presentation but very poor in content and completely blotched on narration and concept. While the masses have nothing in it, the class audience will feel like they are in a classroom. And regarding the mega fans…well, it looks like 2010 is just not their year as their favorite heroes seem to be dealing with unconventional characters.
Bottomline: Sour fruit with seeds of confusion and misdirection

It is a fact that we all are going to die someday or the other. However, when someone catches

good movie. One thing is for sure, that death is clichéd subject in films. However this is the
first film (in Hindi) that talks about euthanasia (mercy killing) and its necessity. There are
moments of self pity that come through very raw black comedy; how they come is where
the movie excels. For Hrithik Roshan, the dancing Greek God of India, it must have been
tough to play a patient who is stuck on the bed. Yes there are moments he dances and does all that he can, but it is as a speaking vegetable that he is incredible! Aishwarya Rai, as Sofie, expresses
a lot through her eyes. She takes everyone by surprise when she gives few fake orgasmic
expressions (like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally).
Whenever I see Shernaz Patel, I’m reminded of the age old Johnson and Johnson ad in
which she expresses subtle emotions as a mom who just gave birth to her firstborn.
She acts beautifully and brings a lot to the movie. Aditya Roy Kapoor as the overzealous
students does a fair job.
All these characters merge well into the quest of a patient who seeks mercy killing. What is
endearing to see is the way the sub plots are kept to a minimum, but we manage to
find their mysterious influence on the story.
Here are some magical moments in the movie:
Ethan traveling in car from his home to the court is taken directly from Spanish original.
Sanjay adds some originality making it even better than the original!
A dead body is placed beside Ethan and the entire shot is captured stunningly!
A funeral scene in which Ethan breaks into a song It’s a wonderful life
Ethan, giving his student a last lesson in magic, asks him to pull a white rug from under
him! This scene encapsulates the entire spirit of the movie. Infact it is easily one of the
finest scenes I have seen in the little number of movies I watched!
What is bad: Fact is the movie is very seriously inspired from the Spanish film Mar Adentro
(The Sea Inside in English). The characters around the quadriplegic are changed to suit the
Indian
scenario, but the spirit of the movie has been kept the same. Many said that the movie was
also inspired from the likes of The Illusionist andThe Prestige. However both these films
are in a different league, and Guzaarish hardly manages to brush them, in those ‘stage magic
show’ scenes, but that's hardly a complaint! Nafisa Ali is too bad, except for one emotional
situation.
Also the movie and its characters, including Aishwarya and Aditya Roy, sometimes come across
as too loud for their own good. Monikangana Dutta needs to improve a lot, and a talented
actor like Rajat Kapoor is wasted as a prosecutor. Infact, the entire court scenes are dealt
amateurishly. However, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali keeps the mistakes to the minimum
winning every lost moment again and again.
Technical Departments: The first best thing about the movie that anyone will notice is
the amount of work the cinematographer Sudeep K. Chatterjee has done. Guzaarish is
splendidly shot, and it is great to see the art direction team become a part of the
cinematography department. Of course art direction is great too. One wonders why
Aishwarya wears some out of the world dresses, though of course the jokes on her dress
 give us some relief!
Background music is good but I’d say Sanjay Leela Bhansali should leave music to experts.
Where Bhansali wins is the way he uses his screenplay to bring out the sensuality of a
relationship between a quadriplegic and his nurse and the beauty of friendship. Even though
some situations are inspired form the Spanish movie, he manages to add a touch of
originality making the movie even more touching.
Final Point: The last time I heard claps in a theater was for the Telugu movie Vedam. It
didn’t become a hit. I heard claps again for Guzaarish. I wonder how it will fare at the box office
but it is really a must see for anyone interested in films. It is a good one for those who have
 seen the Spanish original too!

Audio Review: Venkatesh's Nagavalli

Venkatesh’s movie Nagvalli, a remake of Kannada original Aptarakshaka, comes with lot of expectations. As far as the audio is concerned, most of Venkatesh’s films have decent music. However, being a sequel to the super hit Chandramukhi, and with five or six heroines in the movie, the expectations are high. Kannada music director Guru Kiran’s music for Aptarakshaka was a hit, and he will be hoping that the same will work for him here in Telugu. Let’s see if it does:

1.Kabadi Kabadi
Singers: Ranjith, Jogi, Sunitha
Nagavalli

From the moment it starts you will know that Kabadi Kabadi is an out and out mass number. Lyrics by Chandrabose are aimed to satisfy the dancers who wouldn’t care about the meaning of the song. The tune, composition and instrumentation are no different from many other songs we’ve listened in the early 90s.

2. Vandanalu
Singer: Rajesh, Nandita, Shamita
Nagavalli

Unlike the previous one Vandanalu starts off silently. However, the peace doesn’t last too long, with a tried and tested beat to follow it. The singers try their best to make this song likeable. Lack of anything new makes this song a bore, but the main tune of the song is the only best part of this one.

3. Ghirani Ghira Ghirani
Singer :S.P.Balasubrahmanyam & Chorus
Nagavalli

If there’s any one voice in entire South India that adds majesty to a song that is S.P.Balasubramanyam’s voice. He brings his best for this one. It is more of a traditional dance song, and we’ve heard better ones from Keeravani and Koti in Telugu. Guru Kiran cannot get near them, but he’s got the experienced Balu who makes this song a good one to listen. The chorus too does their bit. Terrific singing!

4.Omkara
Singers : Chitra
Nagavalli

This is yet another traditional song, and reminds us of a famous song from the movie Sagara Sangamam. That’s hardly a complaint because Chitra tells us why she has come to become a legend. What a shame she isn’t singing too many these days. Guru Kiran finally finds imaginative ways of modulating traditional Indian instruments. This is the best song so far in the album, beating the previous one.

5. Abhimaani Lenide
Singer: S.P.Balasubrahmanyam
Nagavalli

Just as we talked about the best song in the album, here comes a strange one. The tune and instrumentation belong to the 1980s. Chandrabose manages to get some meaning into this uninspired tune, but he can’t make it any better. Even the majestic voice of Balasubrahmanyam is of no use. This one can be skipped safely.

6. Raa Raa (Remix)
Singers: Nityasri, Sricharan
Nagavalli

Tamil music director Vidyasagar had made Raa Raa fromChandaramukhi a haunting melody. Guru Kiran’s remix of the song is far from it. Even though Nityasri gives it her best, Guru Kiran makes it more like Govinda’s number What is your style number from a David Dhawan comedy! Rap is uninspiring too.

The audio of Nagvalli is surely a surprise, not as a great one, but as a disappointment. Only two songs seem worthy of listening. Because both are traditional songs, theirrepeat value too would be less. Probably Guru Kiran is best in the Kannada film industry, but his music (atleast for this movie) hardly matches with the kind of music that is happening in Telugu films these days. One wonders if the filmmakers made the right choice.
There is one thing that might work for Nagvalli because of this music. It will decrease the expectations from the actual movie, which will work in its favor! Let’s hope that the audio is useful in that sense, at the least.

Story

kathiRama Krishna (Kalyan Ram Nandamuri) is a football player who aspires to play for national team. He lives in a joint family and bonds over well with his sister Haritha (Saranya Mohan). He protects her all the time. One sudden day she disappears. He searches for her finds out that she is married to a factionist from Rayalaseema. And she is in trouble. The rest of the story is all about how he sacrifices his aim of playing for nation so that he can save from her from her trouble.
Artists Performance
kathiKalyan Ram Nandamuri: Kalyan Ram has got two get-ups in the movie. He is normal in the first half and has a special get-up in the second half. Lot of appreciation should go to cinematographer Sarvesh Murari in bringing out starking variations between these two get-ups. Kalyan Ram’s dialogue delivery has improved by miles in this movie. And he is at ease in casual scenes and has impact-making presence in action episodes. Kalyan Ram is an honest actor and you can see his zeal to work hard towards it in this movie.
kathiOthers: Saranya Mohan suited the role very well and she is a nice actress. Sana Khan is beautiful in looks and she did adequately well. Shyam is nice as a guy with negative streaks. I loved the make-up of Kota, Telangana Sakuntala and Ajay in this movie. Kota is extremely good. Ajay looks menacing with a damaged eye. Raghu Karumanchi is an actor who is good at comedy and you can find him in most of the movies of Surender Reddy and NTR. He entertains with his typical Telangana dialect and funny face in this movie for a brief time. Ahuti Prasad, Chandra Mohan, Dharmavarapu and Telangana Sakuntala are adequate. Brahmanandam entertains in the second half with his cellphone comedy as ‘swathi muthyam’.
Technical departments
kathiStory - screenplay - direction: It is a sister sentiment movie with ample action elements. The ‘football player - joint family - sacrificing goal for family’ set-up seem to have resemblance to Chiranjeevi’s Vijetha. However, the story provided by Vakkantam Vamsi has a novel point in sister-sentiment thread. Screenplay of the movie is nice in the second half. Direction of the movie is decent though we expect the emotion to be more impact-making in scenes leading upto action episodes. Brahmanandam’s comedy and ‘naa daivam’ photo episodes will give relief in second half which is laden with action and sentiment.
kathiOther departments: Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari is excellent (a part of the credit should also go to DI team). Dialogues by M Ratnam are big asset to the movie. Fights by Ram Lakshman are really good and chase episode of a SUV rotating in air is excellently conceived. However, climax scene of sword-piercing look unreal due to the excessive size of the sword. Most of the action sequences (chases and fight in the builder’s home) are good. Music by Mani Sharma is adequate. I liked Natu Kodi koorasong (typical orchestration that is used in NBK’s hits like Narasimha Naidu and Samarasimha Reddy). The movie is made with proper care in terms of production values and post production quality.
kathiAnalysis: First half of the movie is adequate. The movie gets interesting from the kidnap episode. Second half is racy with lots of action episodes. The climax fight is too massy. The plus points of the movie are brand-new Kalyan Ram and technical values (dialogues, camera and fights). This movie is mainly aimed at female crowds (sentiment factor) and masses (action episodes and dialogues). Kathi is an adequate movie and the success will depend on how ladies and masses patronize it.

Varun Sandesh has improved in his body language and diction with this movie. He is good in the movie. He still needs to get into a groove where he can carry characters like these on his shoulders and contribute more to the characterization. For a first timer, new actress Nisha Agarwal (sister of Kajal Agarwal) does a great job at acting and screen presence. Shashank and Nisha are adequate. Vennela Kishore adds fun quotient to the movie with his dialogues. However, he should start doing versatile characters in movies in stead of sticking to the same dialogue delivery and similar kind of looks. Pragati is excellent as mother and her performance is very natural. The comedy performed by MS Narayana is stale. There are not many actors in the movie as the story sticks to limited characters.

Story - screenplay - direction: It is a typical Hollywood kind of break-up story. These kinds of stories are to be dealt very deftly since they don’t have any typical commercial elements. We had seen such break-up based sensible films like Sakhi and Kushi in the past. Sampath Nandi being a first-timer comes up with a commendable script. However, as a director he couldn’t get the scenes the way they are supposed to be. He knows what happens to the life of youngster who is going through the lull after graduation. He has also used realistic scenes and colloquial dialogues. This film is bold and different to me in two ways -

1. Heroine will be entertaining two guys at a time so that she could go with whoever prospers well. (shows the typical practical nature of some of the girls in the current scenerio).

2. Pre-marital sex
Films like Chitram and 10th class attempted this kind of subject in the past. The director has attempted to give a good message by saying that you have to stick to your partner after the marriage despite differences. Though it might have provided some entertainment in the theater, showing girl hostel inmates of Ameerpet area as characterless is highly improper. The Ameerpet hostel scenes in the film are offensive.

Other departments: Music scored by Chakri is mostly situational as there are no explicit duets in the movie (except for an item song meant for the break-up party of the couple). Songs are good and my favorite is ‘Nee Navvule’ which has retro feel to it. Cinematography by Bujji is neat. Dialogues by Sampath Nandi are good. All the people who are familiar with internet will connect to some of the dialogues. Editing is adequate. Producer should be commended for putting his money in a script that doesn’t bank on commercial ingredients.

Analysis: First half of the movie is uninteresting and it banks on exploiting the teen fantasies. Second half of the film has substance. The scenes involving Pragati and kids are neatly done. Though the director penned the screenplay in back-and-forth format, the progression of story becomes predictable. Plus point of the film is the bold story line. On the flip side, a better narration/treatment would have made this movie attractive. The suggestive scenes in the first half might offend certain sections of audiences. On a whole, Yemaindi Ee Vela is a bold attempt, but not good enough!
